Empowerment
Our aim, our mission, our goal
We work with our in-country partner NGO's to support positive change and opportunity for children, women and communities across Asia and Africa. Our main focus for change is through educational projects whilst developing empowerment projects alongside. These projects include vocational training for single mothers and Dalit women to generate an income to support their families, through to menstrual health projects with young girls to support their education and better wellbeing.
Our work will continue to be supportive in nature and provide the tools to enable communities to nurture their women and children.
India
Since 2013, our main focus has been to support the development of an orphanage which provides a loving home for up to 35 children aged from 4 to 18 years from varying disadvantaged backgrounds.
Working with our partners in Andra Pradesh, we also support disadvantaged young women and single mothers in the area.
In 2023, we are setting up three training locations and hope to provide tailoring training to over 45 women who currently live in poverty and work in agriculture earning as little as £2 per day.
Tanzania
A partnership borne out of an idea to reduce sexual assault by distributing donated bras to women in Iringa. Its surrounding villages has seen further initiatives for vocational training, the construction of a pre-school, distribution of clothing and educational supplies.
In 2024, we are running our Kilimanjaro Trek which will raise much needed funds to our in-country partner to deliver education assistance to hundreds of children in Iringa and the surrounding villages .
Nepal
Following the 2015 earthquake which devastated the country, we partnered with an NGO covering the Helambu region to support the reconstruction of rural schools, creation of temporary learning centres, supply of vital educational supplies and essential support of marginalised communities. Our work continues with the funding of scholarships, village flood defences, school bags and ongoing community support.
Our Everest Base Trek in 2022 raised over £10,000 for our in-country partner to continue essential education projects and teacher training.
Indonesia - Sumatra
To date we have funded at least 60 operations for children with cleft lip and palate and support our partner in their vital work. This partnership has enabled us to develop new initiatives in education, improving mobility for some of the poorest families with disabilities and the creation of a cooperative of single mothers weaving traditional Batak scarfs to generate an income.
Mauritius
Hard to believe, yet, behind the holiday resorts lies poverty for the Afro-Mauritian community living in shanty areas with no running water or sanitation. Here lies opportunity for the drugs and sex trade to exploit children and young adults and that is why our work is so important to support our partners in providing breakfast, lunch and after school programmes for the children, washing facilities and essential food supplies to the poorest. This has led to the creation of vocational training initiatives for local single mothers and the further development of the children's centre in La Collette. Our aim is to keep children off the streets and in full time education and activities
How do we do all this?
The funding for all these wonderful projects comes mainly from us running regular trips (and treks including Everest Base Camp and Kilimanjaro) for people of all ages and backgrounds to see the projects and children first hand.
