Sumatra

  13th – 21st January 2018 – Fully Booked / 20th – 28th April 2019 – Places Available

We have partnered with a small charity called Children of Sumatra based on an island north of Sumatra run by an English lady called Katie. The charity aim to carry out as many cleft lip and palate operations as possible on children affected across the island with operations carried out at Harapan Jaya Hospital in Siantar during September and October each year. Katie journeys out to the remote villages to find the children but over the past few years are getting more and more people contacting them for help, which is great considering Sumatra is predominantly a muslim country, which does create barriers being the offer of assistance is coming from a Christian based organisation.

Having carried out our exploratory visit in January 2016, the 8 day trips will run annually  for a team up to 14 people. The funds raised from the 2017 trip has changed the lives of 25 children and with operations taking place every October/November the team will see the difference they have made when they meet them in following year.

Here’s the difference an operation can make to a child

As with all our trips the minimum donation required to secure a place is £1700 and covers the cost of the flight, accommodation, transfers in Sumatra, travel insurance and breakfast and dinner with lunch and drinks being covered by a team kitty which will work out to about £15 per person for the week. (depending how much you drink and eat of course!) ***please be aware that due to the fluctuating exchange rate in Indonesia we may need alter the minimum donation slightly***

The remaining money goes direct to the project. A £200 non refundable deposit is required to secure your place with the following payment schedule;

A £200 non-refundable deposit secures your place on the team then we require a further £700 eight months before trip with the remaining £800 eight weeks before departure.

All money raised above the minimum donation all goes to the project to help more children with the Gift-aid claimed going to develop new projects and provide emergency funds for our existing projects.

A pre-trip meeting will be held approximately 11 months before the trip depending on the team members locations.

This project like our other projects is truly magical and delivers on all levels an unforgettable adventure. So, sign up now!
